What Causes High BP?

Question: My bp was170/120 before a month
Chked with physician
Prescribed telma 40/6.5 mg
After 3 weeks bp was140-150/90-100
Prescribed telma 40/12.5 mg
After one week same reading
Age 31
Male ht-176cm wt-104
Family history of hypertension
ECG, echo, kidney ultrasound, urine analysis, blood work are normal
Walking for 30 min
On low salt diet
Why my bp is not coming to normal level.?

It is reassuring to note that the investigations are normal
The cause is likely inherited (‘Primary’ or ‘Essential’ Hypertension)

There has been very good improvement in your pressure, not normal yet…
Majority of people need more than 2 drugs to achieve good control to reach target levels
In this situation, we generally add Calcium Channel drug like Amlodipine (start with 5 mg and step up to 10, later, if necessary)
[The dose of Telmisartan may also be upped to – to 80 mg / Telma 80/12.5 – now or subsequently]
You need follow up / it is a question of time and titrating the drugs
