What Causes Heartburn And Burning Feeling In Stomach?
Question: I have heart burn and burnings in stomach since from last 6 months. I am getting well when I take daily Sompraz D40 capsule by Sun Pharma.
I am taking this medicine from last 6 months. If I stop to take this medicine, I feel the heart burn and burnings in stomach. So, I am continuing this medicine.
Is it safe to take this medicine for long time? Is it have any side effect if used from long time? Should I continue this medicine in future also?
Please suggest your opinion.

I understand your concern.
See, you are suffering from acid peptic disease and so you get relief from Sompraz. These medicines contain Proton Pump Inhibitors. Usually these are considered safe to use but can cause Vitamin B12 and Calcium Deficiency.
I would advise you to get Upper GI Endoscopy done and get biopsy for h.pylori infection. If you are found to be h.pylori infected, you will have to take medicines for that.
Other then this, avoid spicy and oily food. Don't smoke or consume alcohol in case you do.

Thanks for the reply.
The Gastrologist has done the endoscopy of me. He inserted a tube with a small camera in my throat up to 40cm before 6 months. After test, he told me that there is no ulcer disease, but he found a very light red portion and he told that this may be one reason. He told me to take antacid Sompraz D40. I took it for a month but my acidity & burning problem was solved by this. But, I felt headache and after putting out the pitta from my stomach at morning, I feel good. An alternate day, I have to put out the pitta from my stomach. That Gastologist even told me to take follow up by Neurologist. The reason behind this is that I can not see the computer or TV with high contrast, even in sunlight I get headache and feel that pitta in my body is preparing. At morning, I drink 5 glass of water and after 30 min, I put out the pitta (I did vomiting), after this I feel good. Neurologist gave me medicine for migraine but by that medicine, I felt very sleepy, weakness, so I stopped them. Now, I am taking Ayurveda medicine from last 4 months. But, I feel the acidity and pitta. So I am taking SomprazD40 also. By this, my acidity stops but the pitta at alternate day occurs.
This pitta problem I was suffering from last 12 years, but the frequency of vomiting was rare and there was no acidity problem at that time, now the pitta vomiting is an alternate day.

The most convenient method of detecting h.pylori infection is through rapid urease test done by taking a biopsy during the endoscopy.
The h.pylori treatment kit costs around Rs.100 per kit. So for 14 days it will cost around Rs.1400.
As far as fatty liver is considered, you should get your Liver Function test done. If that comes out to be normal then, you must have to do weight reduction. And in case you consume alcohol you have to stop that.
