Question: My daughter is 16 years old and has recently developed symptoms that start with heart palpitations followed by dizzy, shortness of breath 15 to 30 seconds loss of eye sight and then a 1 to 2 hours of numbness and tingling in her arms and legs, She says that it feels like she is coming out of her body and that even the slightest movement of feet or hands is a weird unwanted feeling. Blood work done and all is perfect. wore a heart monitor for 4 weeks all normal. (no episode during that time). next stop Neurologist. She is scared to go out in fear that she will have an attack. She is calling it a panic attack of a perfectly happy kid with no worries. my wife and i are having a panic attack ourselves thinking of the worst. Help please

Brief Answer:
You need to get a few tests done for her

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I completely understand your concerns. These symptoms can be due to some medical conditions which needs to ruled out. They can be seizures, thyroid dysfunction, parathyroid dysfunction, B12 or vitamin D3 deficiency. So I would suggest you to take her for following investigations:

1. Electroencephalograph (EEG)
2. Thyroid profile
3. PTH, S. Calcium, phosphorus and alkaline phosphate.
4. Vitamin D3 and B12 levels.

Her symptoms are broad and non specific to be understood by history alone. The aforementioned tests are necessary to arrive at a conclusion. Her doctor's will know about these tests.

In case all these tests are normal, she will need psychotherapist evaluation to rule out unprovoked panic attacks or conversion disorder.

Hopefully this will help you. You may upload her reports for my reference.

Take care
