Question: I had sex with amake 16 dec.
sex was un protected oral both ways, no ejaculate into my mouth .
condom protected anal sex (me top/giving)..to my knowledge condom didn't break.
I received partner ejaculate on my hand/skin.
on 25 dec I had following symptoms, fading until today 7 days later although still there.
fever/cold sweat, aching legs, headache, nausea but not vomit, upset stomach but not diarreaoh, mouth ulcers developed today, severe night sweats first 3 days, loss of appetite 5 days.
I have taken an HIV test 29 Dec stage 4 antigen/antibody test. returned negative.

do I need to return. for reasons I still cant answer I did not go into detail with the medical facility anddod not provide dates listed above, I know this was not the correct thing to do.

will the negative antigen test, taken possibly during the seroconversion stage be reliable ??sex was with an experienced male. I am male.sex was with an experienced male. I am male.I was also tested negative 22 dec prior to any symptoms, however less than 1 weel after exposure.ive also missed off severe fatigue as a symptom...getting better buth still there today and starting 25 dec

Brief Answer:
Needs work up, HIV unlikely if tested negative plus partner negative

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. 4th generation screening tools of HIV are very efficient and may hardly miss the cause. If your partner is not HIV then you need not to worry about any thing.

As far as the symptoms are concerned there are many other reasons that can cause these oral symptoms. Also oral sex can do that on its own. Now that your symptoms are improving i don't see any reason to be concerned about. You can get an oral examination, get some oral and throat swabs to rule out other infections and even STDs if you are worried.

Regarding anal sex , that was protected so should not be a concern. These night sweats, fever however needs some work up to sort out other causes of infection that may not be connected to this coitus act.

Talk to your doctor, let them run some blood work up, throat swabs and sort out the possible causes that explain your symptoms. I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and don't forget to close the discussion please.

thank you for the response
would you feel the original Hiv test 6-7 days after exposure would show a false negative ?? I had no symptoms at this stage
the 2nd test was taken 4-5 days after symptoms began (possible mid seroconversion stage ??) and from what I understand a false negative result is probable at this stage..
I am now 16-17 days after exposure and still feel lousy, but not as lousy..the mouth sores are painless and came today as did a sore throat..Ima 7 days after original flu symptoms described previous

it is probable my partner was HIV although this is not known at this stage

Brief Answer:
HIV not likely if partner negative

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back to me
HIV test can diagnose as early as 2 weeks. 24 days or 42 days is confirmatory..But as i mentioned to get HIv the partner should be HIV positive. FLu like symptoms from HIV do not show up that early. The partner status is HIV negative then there was no need to get tested even.
I hope it helps.
