What Causes Headache In A Child?

default
Posted on Mon, 25 Sep 2017
Question: My 4.8 Years kid has been reporting sudden headache since July this year which lasts for anything between 1 minute to 5 minutes. It disappears on its own after that.

The condition first occurred in July this year with kid complaining once a day after intervals of 2 days. Sometimes he did complain about things rotating during above condition.

This spanned for 2 weeks in July & there after he did not complain in whole August.

Now all of sudden he has started complaining in similar pattern in last 1 week. We already took him to eye specialist & pediatrician who found everything perfect.

Otherwise Kid is absolutely fine , playful , no nausea symptoms, eating & attending regular schools.

Our recent lifestyle:

1. We were blessed with another Baby boy in May this year after which our attention is divided between 2 kids. The kid did talk about that.

2. We are living in joint family with my parents & sometimes we do have some arguments b/w us at home

3. kid has become aggressive in behavior in recent past.

4. The kid sleeps on an average 8.3 hours a day with his grandparents. Earlier he used to sleep with us.

My question is Do we need to consult Neurologist.

Brief Answer:
There does not seem a need for neurologist

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

Yes neurologist can be visited for examination and any further tests regarding headache.

This does seem like the child is experiencing distance from parents and trying to gain their attention. Mother and father having time alone with older child will help. Its possible that he needs the previous sleep routine.

Aggression is common among boy siblings and that is how they express their affection to each other.
Arguments are healthy and make the young ones mentally strong. Physical violence can cause injuries and have psychological impact on children.

Hope it helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
