What Causes Headache And Dizziness While Yawning Or Breathing?

default
Posted on Thu, 14 Jan 2016
Question: My head is getting worse as I yawn or hold my breath and it scares me because it will go away and come back frequently throughout the day. Almost as if I am having a brain freeze and even there has been times where my nose will tingle in pain from this problem. Is this something that I have to be concerned about?

Brief Answer:
no, but further tests are required

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
Well during the yawning or breath holding intrathoracal pressure is increased and it causes circulation changes in neck. This is a reason for more or less significant headache or feeling of diziness. However,if this is significant then there may be disorder in neck vessels blood flow and you should do ultrasound of carotid artery. ALso, ENT examination is recommended.
