Brief Answer:
Green stools are usually self limiting

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcaremagic
Greetings of the day
Dear Ms XXXXXXX

First and foremost let me reassure you there is no cause for concern. Many parents apply lot of weight age to color of stools especially if it's green in color.

Green color stools are usually due to

1. Normal variation: Increased Peristalsis /intestinal activity. When the food and bowel moves quickly through the intestine there is less time left for bile (secreted by liver and gallbladder which is usually green in color ) to get altered to yellow color due to bacterial action. So stool can be occasionally be green

2. Food allergy : Introduction of new food in the menu could also cause such change

If the following criteria are fulfilled there is no need to be worried about green stools as it will subside on its own

1. Absence of blood in stools
2. No pain in abdomen
3. No redness in anal region
4. Child eating food well

For your reassurance I would suggest you the following

1. Avoid following food: Avoid milk and milk product for a week. You can use Soyamilk in place of cow milk . Avoid non vegetarian food

2. Ensure good intake of water

3. Curd rice: Curd is a good natural Probiotic

Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.

Take care

Thank you doctor. But, my concern is the frequency of stools. its almost 5 times a day. She was down with stomach infection and was treated for it.
She sometime complains of slight stomach ache before passing stool. Also, the presence of mucus is worrying us.
She is otherwise playful and is eating fairly well.

Brief Answer:
Continue antibiotics and Probiotics

Detailed Answer:
Dear Ms XXXXXXX

The kid is already on antibiotics and Probiotics. It will take care of infective foci as the cause of loose motion. I would also suggest you to implement the advise as told by me earlier.

Do not worry the kid will be fine soon.

Take care
