What Causes Flat Red Spots All Over Body?

default
Posted on Wed, 11 Feb 2015
Question: My daughter is 1 year 2 months old. She developed flat red spots all over her body. We put new clothes for her and took her out, it was cold amd hot wholeday. By next day ut became more. We took her to doctor. He prescribed omnacortil forte, calamine lotion, and atarax syrup. He said only to give omnacortil forte in case it doesn't subside, since it's a steroid. I kept giving atarax and applied calamine lotion. She is not sleeping and eating properly from 2 days. Should I give omnacortil forte. I hope it will not have any side effects later.

Brief Answer:
Omnacortil not to be given if rash is improving

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Dear Ms

Going by description of rash it is likely to be due to following factors

1. Excessive sweating

2. Extremes of weather condition

3. New clothes: They do not absorb moisture well and lead to rash

Exact diagnosis will depend on clinical examination. If there is associated itching it is likely to be due to allergy.

Calamine lotion is soothening agent and will help in fast resolution of rash
Atarax is Hydroxyzine which is antihistamine and helps control rash and associated itching. Omnacortil is steroid and is only to be given when the rash is severe is due to severe allergy.
If there has been improvement in rash, I would not recommend giving Omnacortil as it will not improve her appetite or sleep.

I would suggest you the following

1. Hot water bath: Gentle whole body bath with Himalaya or XXXXXXX and XXXXXXX body wash will help remove oil residue from skin and help improve rash

2. Neopeptine Syrup can be given for 2 to 3 days to improve her appetite

3. Give meals which the baby is fond off.

Do not worry the kid should be doing fine soon.

Do write to me anytime you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.

The rashes doesn't seem to subside at all. I gave atarax and applied calamine lotion in the morning. I gave hot water bath with neem leaves.
She is cranky and her eyes are watery.
