Posted on Wed, 5 Aug 2015
Question: Hi,

I had genital warts about 8yrs ago and was given Warticon which did the job.
A couple of.months ago i notices a couple of what i thought was warts and began to use warticon however, i have these grey marks which i will upload the photos. They do not hurt but do cause an itch now and again. They are flat and not raised and after having sex they seem to open like a cut or sore with no pain. it seems to heal a couple days after.
I was told this is Fixed Drug Eruption

Are these warts or a fungal infection etc?

Brief Answer:
fixed drug eruption is most likely possibility

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com.
I have read your query. I
understand your concern.
I have gone through the whole conversation you had with our doctors.
I have seen all the attached photographs also.
As per details, the most likely possibility for your symptoms is a condition of skin called Fixed drug eruption. The grey patches do not look like warts or fungal infection.
I would like to know whether you have any history of medicine taken prior to the eruptions on the genitalia?
Usually pain killers, antibiotics are implicated as the precipitating factors for FDE.
The eruption are fixed meaning they appear at or around the fixed areas on skin.
These are self limiting and usually resolves within 3-4 weeks.
Kindly reply to my question so that I can help you to my best.
Thanks

Brief Answer:
apply combination of fluticasone and mupirocin

Detailed Answer:
I have seen the new attached image also.
Ibuprofen is one of the most common drugs often implicated in causing Fixed drug eruption.
In non resolvimg cases, I advice my patients to apply topical cream containing fluticasone and mupirocin over the affected area for 7-10days.
In addition, antihistaminics like levocetrizine is advised for symptomatic relief.
Avoid taking Ibuprofen in future.
Keep the area clean and dry.
I hope it helps.
Take care.
