Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

I'm sorry you are sick!

It sounds like you are getting overall better, given that the fever and aches have resolved.

Soreness in the neck can be from a number of different things, including a muscle strain from all the coughing.

Lymph nodes are usually palpable and tender when there is an infection.

If your fever has resolved, and if you aren't coughing up a lot of discolored sputum (discoloration is ok when you get up - I mean discolored all day), then I don't think you need an antibiotic.

Consider taking a product that has guaifenesin, such as Mucinex, and drink with it a lot of water (2 glasses of water if you can). Guaifenesin is a mucolytic, and will help thin out the secretions in your respiratory tract that are hard to cough up.

If you also need a suppressant, you can find products that combine guaifenesin with dextromethorphan. This is all sold over the counter without a prescription. If you use a combo, don't also take separate guaifenesin as that would be too much of it.

If you are unable to sleep due to coughing and if your doctor is willing, a combo of guaifenesin with codeine can be very helpful at suppressing the cough at bedtime. But this is a narcotic and would require your doctor to prescribe it.

I hope this information helps and that you are soon feeling better! Please let me know if I can provide further information.
