What Causes Fever And Severe Fatigue After Unprotected Sex?

default
Posted on Fri, 24 Feb 2017
Question: Hey doctor,
I had a sexual encounter with an unknown girl 2 weeks ago. And i am really worried about any std i got. I did unprotected sex. She is 38 years old unmarried.since the within 2 days of the sex , i had a feverish feeling with high fatigue in my legs and hand joints.
Also a mild headache. Then things got normal except the fatigue in legs and hands . but now again i am having like 5 mouth ulcers since last two days. along with the fatigue in my legs and hands, which worsens when i wake up in mornings. I have to literally do the knocking of my joints every morning to release the pain. I am really worried and i kind of a fear from any stds like hiv or herpes or anysort of this.
I also have a muscular contraction near my abdomen to the crotch like something is very stiff right there. Also i have a skin rash on both of my upper hands but that is since 2-3 years i just guess it might have worsened (It was the condition which most teenagers have but now i feel it has spread.) Please suggest me what to do now? I plan to get a hiv test once a month is over but i am worried if i have any other illness it might worsen for the time i wait. So please suggest the best option.
I am based in tokyo, Originaly from XXXXXXX came her like 4 month ago.

Brief Answer:
Your symptoms are unlikely to be due to HIV/STD.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.
Earliest symptoms due to a HIV infection can occur only after 3-4 weeks after the exposure. So your symptoms are unlikely be due to HIV. Fever, fatigue can occur to anybody without STD/HIV. Mouth ulcers and skin rashes are also not specific either to STD or HIV. Only a blood test alone can reveal or rule out HIV/STD. Skin rashes in STD also can occur only after 4-6 weeks after the infection. Consult your physician and plan for your investigations to rule out STD/HIV as per his/her guidelines.

How about syphillis or any other std.
Because i have been experiencing pain in my pelvic area and also some or the other unexpected short sign of pain in my chest area. along with some shortness of breath.

also maybe swollen lymph nodes under my jaw and on my jaw. i don't know if they are swollen lymph nodes or what because cannot make out if they are swollen lymph nodes or just normal thing. cannot be seen by eyes but only when i feel by my fingers.

Brief Answer:
Your symptoms are unlikely to be due to HIV and STD

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
Most of the STDs manifest with sore genital, discharge or swelling of groin nodes. Rashes in Syphilis will occur after 6-8 weeks after the infection. Pelvic discomfort in a male due to STD is uncommon.
Lymph node swelling around jaw is common with sore throat and tooth problems. So consult your physician and get well soon.

Brief Answer:
Tests after 3 months are ideal

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
All, who had unprotected exposure are having HIV infection.
Not to look for any symptom.
My suggestion is to wait till 3 months, then have the tests for HIV and STDs.
4th generation HIV DUO test and panel of tests for STDs are ideal.
As I mentioned earlier, get the guidance of a physician and have these tests.

Brief Answer:
Not related to your exposure

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
I think that it is a painless lesion.
Looks like a sebaceous cyst, not related to HIV or STD. It will not do any harm. You can ignore the same. If you want it to be removed, approach a surgeon.

Not looking like herpes or Syphilis.

Hi,

If it is painful and recent origin, then the possibility of a furuncle (pus contain lesion), like a boil. It seems neither Genital herpes nor Syphilis. A course of antibiotics will cure the condition.
