Posted on Fri, 25 Jul 2014
Question: hi. every time I eat something it feels like it is stuck in my chest and bottom of my throat. when I burp I feel a little better but sometimes I cant burp. I did have my gallbladder removed 15 months ago. not sure if its related to that?
and I also get a lot of palpitations or heart flutters. my doctor assures me my heart is fine but still very worried.

Brief Answer:
Answer given below

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.

Feeling of something stuck in the throat is called globus pharyngeus. This along with the feature of feeling better with burping is suggestive of gastroesophageal reflux disease.

Take Nexium once a day before breakfast for 8 weeks.
The following lifestyle/dietary changes should also be done -

1. Weight reduction if obese
2. Avoid alcohol/smoking - (if you have these habits)
3. Avoid coffee, citrus. spicy/masala/oily food
3. Avoid eating full stomach and eat smaller meals
4. Go to bed at least 2-3 hours after food.

Get an EKG done for the evaluation of palpitations.

I hope that answers your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr.R.K

Brief Answer:
No need to repeat

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
If ECG was done already and was found to be normal, there is no need to repeat it.
Your palpitations could be due to anxiety.
You can take anxiolytic medication and also can do meditation to relieve it.

I hope that answers your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
