What Causes Fatigue, Shortness Of Breath, Muscle Discomfort In Arms?

Question: Dear Doctor,

Few weeks ago, i had symptoms of fatigue, shortness of breath, muscle discomfort localized to the arms (muscles feel pressure). I went to a cardiologist to test for heart attack because of an existing heart condition from kawasaki disease, the ecg and echo was normal.

The symptoms have then subsided on its own. However i took a basic blood test package regardless because i was worried that it might be ketoacidosis.

The blood test results are
Fasting Blood Sugar : 4.3 mmol/l
Trace ketones in urine
kidney function good

My gp said that ketones in the urine was caused by my starvation from fasting too long.

My physician said to not worry because if it were diabetic ketoacidosis i would not have recovered without insulin or medication drugs.
and that the symptoms could be due to a recent viral infection or gastronomical infection.

I am feeling okay now and have been monitoring my glucose levels with a glucometer. The levels i take at home are within normal range.

Should i still be worried that it was ketoacidosis?

Thank you doctor XXXXXXX

But is it possible for dka to occur and then disappear on its own after a few days without any insulin injection and medication?

Brief Answer:
Impossible

Detailed Answer:
Quite impossible. DKA carries a high mortality rate if not treated promptly with Insulin and intravenous saline. Presence of ketones in urine is only ketosis. DKA is ketoacidosis which means there is ketones in urine and blood PH becomes acidic. That is a dangerous condition. Simple ketosis can happen even if a person vomits few times or has loose stools or if doesnt take food for long time.
