Question: AFTER BEING EXPOSED TO STRAIN B FLU, HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR SYMPTOMS TO APPEAR. I ALSO HAD MY DOCTOR GIVE ME A PX FOR TAMIFLU AS WELL. MY GRAN DAUGHTER CAME DOWN WITH IT MONDAY, TOOK HER TO ER MONDAY NIGHT. IT IS FRIDAY AND SHE HAS NOT HAD A TEMP FOR 2-3 DAYS. SHE STILL IS STUFFY AND THROAT SCRATCHY. HER GYMNASTIC STATE COMPETITION IS SUNDAY. SCHOOL STARTS BACK MONDAY. I DONT THINK ITS A GOOD IDEA FOR HER TO COMPETE. YOU THINK ? ive felt very tired a little light headed ive been told tamiflu can cause this. dont know if flu symptom or meds. ty

I am so sorry to hear about this flu that your daughter has suffered. If she is feeling better and able to compete, then let her do so. I will allow this to her as there is no formal proscription from taking part in physical exercises if you suffer with a flu. Your fatigue and light headed are known side effects of tamiflu. I will suggest that you stay calm and observe for any more suggestive symptoms at this time. Also, it takes 1-4days for symptoms to start following exposure to the flu virus.
