Brief Answer:
Catheter should be placed as soon as possible.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Why was the catheter placed in the bladder? Lack of urine for 24 hours is an urgent condition. It may result with acute kidneys failure and if not treated become life threatening.
If we speak about the woman, some kind of tumor in the bladder can be the reason or any other obstacle between the bladder and the urethra.
For sure this person needs a catheter as soon as possible. Cystoscopy should be also done to see how does the bladder looks like.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
