What Causes Excessive Sleepiness And Night Terrors?

default
Posted on Wed, 10 May 2017
Question: Sleep issues. Always tired. If given the chance I can sleep any time and any place. When I do sleep the sleep is extensive lucid dreaming followed by sleep paralysis episodes. Sleep paralysis episodes are about 3 to 4 a night that I am aware, but my fiance thinks it is happening more than that. Fitbit tracker shows very minimal restless episodes during the night, maybe 2 or 3 times I move, with exception of occasional get up to go to the bathroom. Fiance says I rarely snore, if I do it is rather soft. Very out of it when I am waken up suddenly, takes a few minutes to get out of dream state. My lucid dreams are about 3-5 different dreams per night, varies from pleasant dreams, odd dreams, and then the night terrors.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using Health care magic.

I read your query and understand your concerns.

Considering excessive sleepiness during day and ongoing sleep paralysis indicates possibility of narcolepsy a disorder characterized by excessive sleepiness during day, sleep paralysis and experience of hallucinations during going to sleep or while coming out of sleep.

The disorder can be diagnosed with PSG or MSLT.

In my opinion you should request for PSG to your doctor gor confirmation of diagnosis and further treatment.

I hope this helps you.
If you have more questions feel free to contact me.
Thanks and regards.
