Posted on Mon, 3 Nov 2014
Question: On Monday I got a flu shot. On Tuesday AM I fainted. Since then I have been queasy, dizzy, I have tingling in my arms and hands and generally feel ill. I went to a clinic and my vitals are all normal. Can the flu shot cause these symptoms for 4 days? If not, what else might it be? THANKS

Brief Answer:
can be due to vaccination

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The flu vaccine, like any medication , can be associated with side effects. The vaccine can be live (this is given nasally ) or the inactivated vaccine given by a shot.

The vaccination can be with an inactivated or recombinant product.

Side effects of the inactivated are as follows: soreness at the site in 10 to 70% of persons.
Additional persons may also experience: headache , fever, muscle aches and pains, allergic reaction, general unwell sensation

The recombinant may cause: soreness at the side, headache, fatigue , muscle pain, nausea, joint pain in a few persons.

It is possible that the flu shot is causing your symptoms especially since the symptoms started subsequent to the injection.

These effects should wear off by 1 week to 10 days after the shot.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
