Brief Answer:
OTC meds for dizziness are generally ineffective

Detailed Answer:
Good evening. My name is Dr. Saghafi and I am a neurologist.

Not only are OTC medications (as well as prescription) for dizziness poorly effective but they can actually make symptoms worse and more difficult to treat since people believe they are supposed to help so as a result they continue to take them despite the fact, they are not getting any better or even worse. We are creatures of STUBBORN HABIT sometimes, are we not?

The diagnostic approach to the DIZZY patient is not an easy one and requires someone who is truly INTERESTED in the field as well as a bit of a stickler for detail since there are a lot of "moving parts" to the problem which is rarely solved on the spot and can require patience before figuring out exactly in which way the patient needs to be led.

First of all, DEFINE dizziness please....are you LIGHTHEADED or are you VERTIGINOUS (spinning dizziness), are your ears full or ringing, is that the type of dizziness or is it more like difficulty concentration or completing tasks?

I would recommend a NEUROLOGIST or better yet a NEURO-OTOLOGIST. Both specialities deal with these symptoms all the time and the chance that one or the other will likely figure out what's going on is high SINCE the vast majority of DIZZINESS in people is NOT DUE TO INNER EAR PROBLEMS. Despite what you (and doctors) have been taught....Most dizziness, vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, etc. which is chronic or worsening is due to anything EXCEPT INNER EAR PROBLEMS!

It's true! It's true! The Crown has Made It Clear...Your Dizziness must be cured for All The Year---

So, that fact is true. Your symptoms are more likely due to any other thing going on such as medication effects or interactions, physical deconditioning (lack of adequate cardiopulmonary capacity to keep up with same physical and daily demands as always....). Makes sense right? Time goes on, workloads usually get heavier instead of lighter.....BUT TIME GOES on and the amount of stamina, ability to stay on task, physical strength, etc. tends to either wane or become much harder to maintain ergo, dizziness, lightheadedness, foggy thinking, etc.

Have you had ALL RELEVANT LABS checked and even REORDERED if necessary. Things like this don't stay stable for 10 years then, BANG. start going SOUTH just because they're being a little difficult and feel like making your life more difficult.

Does your cloudiness in mind and thought ever happen within 4 hrs. or less of eating a good meal with lots of carbs in it? If that happens you might be suffering from something called POSTPRANDIAL HYPOGLYCEMIA or REACTIVE HYPOGLYCEMIA.

I hope these answers satisfactorily address your questions. If so, may I ask the favor of a HIGH STAR RATING with some written feedback?

Also, if there are no other questions or comments, may I ask you CLOSE THE QUERY on your end so this question can be transacted and archived for further reference by colleagues as necessary?
