What Causes Dizziness, Abdominal Bloating And Fatigue While On Omeprazole?
Question: my friend just went to the emergency room for shortness of breathe,lightheadness,dizziness,bloated stomach and being weak. they told him to take meclizine hci and omeprazole. nothing is working. He's still having those symptons. Is there something else he can take to relieve those symptoms or do I need to take him back to the er. he also has a history of acid reflux.

The omeprazole can sometimes take a few days to work, like other medications in this drug family.
It can take 5 to 7 days to kick in for some persons because it cannot get rid of the acid present but only stops future acid production.
He should consider using meds such as peptobismol, gaviscon etc along with the omeprazole, this would help with the bloating.
Dramamine sometimes help with dizziness and lightheaded sensation though it would cause drowsiness..
A chest x ray and ECG would have likely been done to rule out heart or lung disease as a cause of the shortness of breath.
The blood tests may have included a complete/full blood count which, if normal, would have ruled out anemia as a cause.
He can consider adding the meds to the omeprazole as well as using the dramamine to see if this helps along with rest.
If there is no improvement within 24 hours or there is any worsening then he can be reviewed

could these meds cause me to have an over active bladder. I ve been going like every 20 minutes
