Posted on Tue, 5 Jul 2016
Question: Two years back I have had a hand surgery for my hand fracture(forearm) and for that a plate has been placed in my hand for ulna bone support .
After two years now I have started some weight training in my Gym and while doing that I do not feel any pain in my hand but sometime there is some uneasiness.
Could you please suggest some precaution which I have to take while doing weight training .
Currently I am not lifting much of the weight for my exercises

Brief Answer:
Start exercise gradually in a graded manner.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
After a surgery there is some scarring in the area and the flexibility and strength of muscles may be slightly reduced in that area. The discomfort can be due to stretching of the scar tissue also.
You need to start the weight training of the affected hand gradually in a graded manner so as not to do any harm to the muscles. Stop the exercises just before the uneasiness starts. Gradually increase the weight or the time of the training.
Gradually the muscles will regain the full strength and you will stop having any such uneasy sensation.
I hope this answers your query.
