What Causes Discomfort In Groin Area Radiating To Pubic Area?

default
Posted on Sat, 13 Jun 2015
Question: Ihave a problem that I have asked several questions about and just wanted a specialist opinion as the two GPs I have seen have both told me to wait another couple of weeks to see if discomfort stops. Have also asked a OYGBN, thinks it could be hernia. Be good to have your opinion before I re visit GP.

I have had an uncomfortable feeling in my groin area (it feels like it is on the panty line) Starts underneath near my back passage and travels up sometimes to my pubic bone, it is like a tightness and dragging and can be quite sore It has been there now noticeably for a couple of months. It feels like there is something there, only on left hand side, sometimes feel a digging sensation on right cannot be seen by the eye or by touch. I have been to the GP who has take urine and swabs, done an internal and checked for lumps or swollen glands. The GP felt or saw nothing that would raise red flags. Great but that does not solve the mystery. I feel it when I walk, and now uncomfortable when I sit, it feels constantly like my underware is digging in. it started as though it were a shaving rash or ingrown hair, just irritated, it is now quite uncomfortable I have tried to wear loose underwear but this does not help I still feel the discomfort with nothing on. . As there is nothing on the surface, could it be inside, I was wondering if it could be a slight prolapse or hernia that cannot be seen, The GP said highly unlikely as she could see nothing.I do get very constipated and strain going to the toilet, I somethimes bleed from the back passge , but do suffer with piles. Is then anything you can think of that would not present itself to the eye I requested an appointment with a Gyneacologist or an ultra sound , But have been told to come back in two weeks. I am loathed the leave it as it is bothering me every day I quite uncomfortable. The first GP put me on a course Amitrypteline 25mg a day as she had no idea what could be causing it and thought it could be nerve endings, I am convinced there is something there even though it cannot be seen of Any ideas? I thought it may be my bowell. I have asked a couple of docs on this site and they have given various different suggestions. I would like a specialist opinion as I feel like I am banging my head against a XXXXXXX wall. Any ideas?? DO you think it could be something to be worried about, the GP thinks not, but I am a little worried there is something inside that cannot be seen. I am not usually a worrier, I just want to get to the bottom of it!

Brief Answer:
Possible procto-colitis or pelvis pathology related to old surgery

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
I have read and re-read your history put in an elucidate manner. You have already taken opinion of 2 GP and a Gyne.

You have an atypical presentation.
To recapitulate important points: Female/46 - uncomfortable feeling in groin area -
Starts underneath near back passage - travels up sometimes to pubic bone, it is like a tightness and dragging and can be quite sore - It has been there now noticeably for a couple of months - It feels like there is something there, only on left hand side, sometimes feel a digging sensation on right - feel it on walking - and now uncomfortable when you sit - it feels constantly like underwear is digging in - it started as though it were a shaving rash or ingrown hair, just irritated, it is now quite uncomfortable - have tried to wear loose underwear but this does not help I still feel the discomfort with nothing on - do get very 'constipated'' and strain going to the toilet, I some times bleed from the back passage , but do suffer with piles - on Amitryptilin 25 - H/O Dermoid overy removed 8 years ago - fibromyalgia in past.
.......................................................................................................

After reading this again my thought and suggestions:
- I would suggest a good laxative and a course of antibiotic and metronidazole, probiotic for 5 days (if not yet given by your Doctors)
- If there is no complete relief I would like to advise a Colonoscopy and CT scan of the whole abdomen including complete pelvis.

This is so as your symptoms may be related to procto-colitis, or some pathology in the pelvis related to the old surgery of removal of ovary, may be adhesion and so on , or the other ovary having some problem.

These problems lead to the problems / Symptoms you have. Takes some efforts to diagnose but needs to be diagnosed properly.

I hope this answer helps you to start with.
I can understand you definitely must have further questions or other information to share. I shall be happy to know more so that we can discuss further and come to the bottom of it, get a diagnosis and of course a solution too.

Many thanks, Just frustrated at GP telling me their is nothing there as if I am imagining it. I have an apt on Friday and will insist on further investigation. It is not something I am particularly worried about but it is very uncomfortable, hence asking for several opinions.
Thank you for your suggestions

Brief Answer:
Please go for further investigations.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your appreciation.
I can understand what you mean by. I do not think this is imagining and for saying so, one needs all the relevant investigations to be absolutely normal, then only we can think of the ''functional'' element; not before.

Even a properly done internal examination can give a proper idea and chance of cystocele or rectocele or uterine prolapse can be diagnosed only on straining at per-speculum examination done by a Gynecologist.

Please get all the investigations and shall be happy to know the reports and the progress and to assist you further.

Please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you need to or if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
