Brief Answer:
Whitish circles

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to healthcare magic,
There is a condition called post inflammatory hypo-pigmentation. After an inflammation there will be area of decreased color. In some it can be post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. In some diseases like psoriasis when healing occurs there will be a rim of decreased pigmentation. Also if you use topical steroids, a similar rim can be see.
Can you tell me what you were using for folliculitis ?

If it is post inflammatory hypopigmentation it will improve gradually over two to three weeks.
Hope this helped,
Take care.

Brief Answer:
Steroid induced hypo-pigmentation

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome back,
Hydrocortisone is a mild topical steroid. It is not a treatment of folliculitis. It is a treatment for allergy. How long have you been applying it ? Is the rash over your inner thighs ?
I suspect that what you were having could be jock itch. Stop hydrocortisone. Use a plain anti fungal cream like clotrimazole 1 % cream twice a day for three weeks.
Hope this helped,
Take care.

Oh okay! When i looked up my symptoms everything pointed to folliculitus. I have been using it for abour 3 days and i thought it was making things better but maybe i was wrong. And yes it is on my inner thigh.

Brief Answer:
Stop hydrocortisone

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome back,
You have been using it only for three days ? That is okay. I feel you should stick to a plain antifungal cream as mentioned earlier. Keep the area dry. Do not rub and clean excessively.
Hope this helped,
Take care.

Hello again Dr. Chacko,

I have been doing as you advised and it seems to be going away! I just really wanted to make sure it was just jock itch and not an STD(my main fear) or anything like that. I can attach photos again if necessary. Also I was hoping you could give me any advice on how to prevent it from coming back? I have been getting rashes/bumps like this on and off since around January and it's quite unsettling. I work out often as well as do laundry for my colleges athletic teams. I shower 2-3 times a day however so I'm not sure if those things would be factors. I'd greatly appreciate any advice!

Thanks!

Brief Answer:
Jock itch

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome back,
It is definitely not an STD as no STD'S look like that. Jock itch could have been confirmed by a side lab test called KOH, but now as you have started treatment and it has improved, the result will be negative. So no need of the test now.
It is better to wash all your under garments in hot water and dry it under direct sunlight. This kills fungal filaments and prevents recurrence. Do not share towels and clothes with your friends. It is better to wash your clothes separately, not with other's clothes. Keep the area dry. Complete the full course of clotrimazole 1 % cream twice a day for three weeks. You may apply an anti fungal dusting powder after bath over groin to prevent recurrence.
Hope this helped,
Take care.
