Brief Answer:
Explained below...

Detailed Answer:
Hi my dear,

You are saying that your son did have a surgery for pyloric stenosis. In such cases, a complete removal of this sphincter is done; however, I need to know the exact procedure that was followed in case of your son.

If the sphincter is completely removed, the food will pass directly to the small intestines and not in portions. Thus, the small intestines get it difficult to digest all this large amount of undigested food resulting in quick passing and diarrhea.it is called dumping syndrome.

Furthermore, more water is being secreted into the food from intestines as a result of osmosis, ending up to osmotic diarrhea.

This is commonly happening in such patients explaining the actual health problems your child is having (pain, bloating, diarrhea and sometimes vomiting).

It is important to feed your son frequently and in small portions. Thus, easing his symptoms.

Hope it was of help!

he had pylorotomy laparoscopic surgery do cut the muscle

Brief Answer:
Following advice...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

There are two major complications of laparoscopic pyloromyotomy:
-     Partial pyloromyotomy. The procedure is incomplete and there is still a degree of stenosis that is manifested with vomiting.
-     Diarrhea which is a common complication of laparoscopic gastric procedures.

If your child is gaining weigh normally you shouldn’t worry because it will pass with the child growing up.

My suggestion is that you should discuss with his treating doctor about reevaluating your son conditions. If he was my patient I would recommend doing a barium swallow gastric series.

Wish you and your family health!
Dr. Klerida
