What Causes Diarrhea After Taking Nexpro?
Question: Hello Doctor,
I had gastritis problem and undergone an endoscopy. The biopsy report results were H.Pylori(sparse).
I have been prescribed with Nexpro HP Kit for 14 days. I started my dosage 9 days back. During this 9 days almost every day I had drinks in the night and I will take the evening Nexpro HP Kit dose after that.
1) Will the medicine work and Will I be totally eradicated by H.Pylori, please explain.
2) During the first one weeK, sometimes I had diarrhea, may be a side effect of medicine. But sometimes I have gastritis problem that I feel like vommiting/heart burn, even after taking the morning dose. Is this normal or if the medicine is not working
3) During evening around 5:00 PM when my stomach is empty I feel the burning sensation and gastritis. Why and what needs to be done.
3) After the course will my gastritis problem be totally gone. Please advice

=== I presume you mean alcohol by name 'drinks'. If so, Alcohol does not go well with most medicines esp on the same. So if Clarithromycin would work with alcohol is doubtful as both of them are an extra stress on liver. It is not necessary to abstain from alcohol altogether but at least avoid during the course of treatment.

== Alcohol also adds to gastritis causing heart burn and vomiting. Please note it. Diarrhoea is very common side effect of Amoxycyllin in Nexpro.

== the stomach did not heal yet with the medicine. The antibiotics in the Nexpro are meant to kill the anaerobic bacteria called H pylori. It needs more time.

=== The eradication of Hpylori is near to 80% after the treatment. The rest would be cleared with behavioural modifications that is avoid behaviours which help grow the bacteria enormously to cause gastritis.

1) In the 9 day course 6 days I had alcohol in the night and the night dose of medicine too. Will that effect the efficacy of the treatment/medicine. Please explain
2) Can I take an antacid (sucrafil) during this course when I am bloated or belching?
3) I am also taking telsar-ln-5mg/rozavel-F-5. Is this causing an interaction?
4) Can you put more light on "behavioural modifications that avoid behaviours which help grow the bacteria enormously to cause gastritis."
5) Is there any chance that I have been resistant to these medication.

1) You please complete the course and do not change it. I'd suggest not to think of its efficacy with alcohol. The past was done.
2) You can take Sucrafil for bloating.
3) No major interaction with both these drugs.
4) Choice of diet, physical exercise, a regular timing of meals, avoid outside food, and personal hygiene, improving immunity all factors growth of H pylori. Do see a dietitian for the choice of food.
5) I do not think of resistance now.
