What Causes Depression Despite Taking Wellbutrin And Prozac?

default
Posted on Wed, 26 Apr 2017
Question: I have been diagnosed with severe depression. I take Wellbutrin, Prozac, and Abilify. I feel better, but have lingering feelings of depression. My dr said that I have a resistance to medications, I was wondering if remeron (Mirtazapine) would be helpful to add to my prescriptions.

Or is there another medication that you would suggest?

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,
Thanks for follow up and proving required details.

There is no harm in adding mirtazapine to current prescription in dose range of 15-30 mg per day to augment antidepressant effect which could be quite helpful for you.

I am also of the opinion that increment in dose of Abilify should be considered in dose range of 10 mg per day from current 5 mg per day. This recommendation is based on the fact that low dose abilify augments action of antidepressants and I think 5 mg is proving insufficient for this purpose.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you very much. How much Tyrosine would you recommend?

Brief Answer:
Tyrosine have no role

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for follow up.

I am not sure why you are asking for tyrosine dose as it does not have any direct role in depression.

If it is just typo and you mean ABILIFY by tyrosine, I will recommend 10 mg of abilify instead of 5 mg which you are taking today.

I hope this clarifies.
Thanks and regards.
