What Causes Delayed Menstruation And Negative Pregnancy Test?
Question: My husband and I are trying to get pregnant since 4 months now. This month my period was late by 9 days and I did a home pregnancy test on the 8th day and test came out negative. I had symptoms of dizziness, sore breasts and mild headaches. I never missed my period before and are always on time. On 10th day I got my period with abdominal pain and blood clot/lumps which felt like I was passing out tissue. I have been feeling dizzy and tired ever since. I am confused what is happening. Please help.

As the urine pregnancy test on 8th day post missed period was negative, it can be taken as conclusive result. The symptoms of low abdominal ache, sore breasts , nausea , headache are part of premenstrual symptoms and are often common and usually subside after start of menses.
The passage of clots / lumps is often seen in women who have a stressful month and this can cause hormonal imbalances leading to often delays and menorrhagic cycles. There is nothing wrong. You may try for conception in the next cycle and please follow your fertile period for intercourse to increase your chances of conception.
