What Causes Delay In Ejaculation When On SVT Treatment?

Question: 48yr old male.. DH has SVT and is treated by Cardiologist. In the past he's had issues with medication. He went through a short time of having a hard time getting an erection or keeping it. He was taking Verapamil 80mg and Metropolol 25mg and then 12.5mg. Every few months he would have a dizzy episode and then nausea and he would feel zapped of energy for a few days. The last time that happened was almost 3 months ago. He lost 15 pounds in a couple of months, workplace was/is stressful, dealing with his elderly.mother. His regular Dr prescribed Zoloft/generic form and his Cardiologist took him off Verapamil and upped his Metroplol to 25mg. Forgot about this he had another dizziness episode and went in to his Dr and that was when they finally gave him the diagnosis of SVT. They want to see if the 25mg of Metroplol will help and if not go in through his groin and add another lead. Last week he started having issue with not being able to ejaculate through intercourse or by hand. He gets close but can't quite jump.the hurdle. He was able to to on Monday and all through the week we tried with no results and finally Sat and Sun day he did, but yesterday was another No Go. Question Do you think it's due to his medication and is there an alternative to the Zoloft and Metroplol? Should we wait to discuss it to see if he needs the procedure done with the extra lead? Should he just go to his regular Dr and have them try a different antidepressant? Is this considered Anorgasmia and can it be treated by medication? Is it better to make an appointment with an Urologist? Basically what direction should we take this in? XXXX

Brief Answer: Delayed ejaculation Detailed Answer: -Hello.Delighted to be able to help. About your questions: 1.-Delay in ejaculation is probably caused by the intake of sertraline. Sertraline and similar antidepressants cause delayed ejaculation, even they are used to treat premature ejaculation. Metoprololol causes difficulty in erection but not ejaculation delay.Although most of antidepressants causes delayed ejaculation, an alternative is to replace Sertralina by Mirtazapine. 2.-The procedure done with the extra lead depend on Metoprolol. It is possible that with increasing dose the procedure is not necessary. Your cardiologist will decide. 3.-Your doctor should replace sertraline by another antidepressant such as Mirtazapine. 4.-The diagnosis is delayed ejaculation. Appropriate treatment is to replace antidepressant. 5.-Appointment with an Urologist is not necessary.Your doctor may to replace antidepressant and probably the pathology will improve. I Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.If you do not have any clarifications, please don’t forget to evaluate my answer.I wish you good health.

Thank You!! I just called his Dr and had them switch over to new medication. Does it take a few days for the Zoloft to get out of his system?

Brief Answer: Sertraline Detailed Answer: Although your doctor decides, it is recommended to decrease the dose of Sertraline and to start taking Mirtazapine ascending dose, combining the two drugs for a few days. After, only taking Mirtazapine, When only taking Mirtazapine, Sertraline will be out of your system. I Hope I have answered your query.
