What Causes Deformity In Left Little Finger?

default
Posted on Tue, 14 Jun 2016
Question: It started slowly and getting more frequent. My left little finger shapes like a backward C. I can straighten the other fingers and the little stays as backward C. It happens daily now but is inconsistent how many times during the day. This started 5 - 6 months ago with the first couple of months about once a month. Then everyother week, weekly and now daily. What has really has me concerned and scared is that my right small finger is starting to do the same way. The common factor when I wake up 50% its locked. I noticed my hand was sofly rolled up onder my pillow. The problem persists during the day. I still have control to undo it. Pain is very mild, but not bothersome. I feel like my finger has two bones but no knuckle. I have scheduled a visit with my family doctor in two weeks. I will keep this appt, tks

Brief Answer:
It can be due to arthritis

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case. Finger deformities are common due to arthritis. It can be reversible or irreversible. After studying your case I think you are having reversible deformity. For this you need to wear splint in your finger. This will correct your deformity.
You can check some blood test like ESR and RA factor to see if arthritis is present in your blood. If tests are positive then you need to take few medicines for arthritis also.
I hope this answer will be useful for you. let me know if there is any other followup questions. thanks
