What Causes Dark Pigmentation Area On The Thumb After A Sunbathing Session?

default
Posted on Sat, 5 Nov 2016
Question: I have a strange brown mark on my thumb that developed over the last week or so. I did a but of sunbathing but it looks too localized to be Sun tan? any ideas what it might be? picture attached.

Thanks!!

Hi XXXXXXX

it was natural Sun, not fake XXXXXXX I was sat outside in the sun. I also have the same thing (different size same type of thing) on my other hand. I guess it may be just because of the Sun, but I've never had this type of localized dark patch before.

If it's just a quirk of the XXXXXXX That's fine. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something serious.

Brief Answer:
reaction to the sun tanning

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

I see that you have a new dark pigmentation area on your thumb after a sunbathing session. I assume that you went to a tanning bed and had a spray XXXXXXX This is very common after going through the spray tanning as it tries to add pigmentation to your skin and it can develop some irregular tanning and pigmentation. If you did not do the spray XXXXXXX this maybe a small bruise just under the skin from minor trauma. I would expect either condition to improve and resolve in 1-2 weeks. This does not look like any cancer or other dangerous condition.

I hope I answered your question. Please contact us again if you have any additional questions

Brief Answer: XXXXXXX

Detailed Answer:
I would expect that the lesions are due to the sun. I would recommend not getting tans as the sun damage can be major later in your life. This lesion is definitely not anything to be scare or concerned about.
