What Causes Cyclical Vomiting In A Child?

default
Posted on Tue, 5 Aug 2014
Question: A six year old boy often feels dizzy in the AFTERNOON, sometimes feels nausea and throws out. Every time when he felt dizzy, he fell into sleep immediately, and usually slept for more than 12 hours. After he woke up, he becomes normal and looks healthy.

All these happened since May last year. This happens once per week since April this year, worse than once per month before.

Which department should we consult? What could be the reasons? What kind of inspection may be required?

Brief Answer:
looks like cyclical vomiting

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to health care magic.
This looks like cyclical vomiting.
You need to consult a pediatric gastroenterologist first.
If abdominal causes are ruled out, then neurological causes need to be evaluated for which can include various brain issues like cyst, infection, etc.
A neurologist should help in identifying it.
Wishing him speedy recovery
