Brief Answer:
Alcohol is a rich source of sugar

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help.

Yes ma'am, you are quite right, these two are in fact related. Many alcohol dependent individuals who decide to go sober, face this issue. Alcohol is in fact a rich source of sugar and grain, and as long as alcohol-loving or dependent individuals had their alcohol, they usually don't require either of them. But as soon as alcohol is discontinued, the sugar which was previously being supplied in the form of alcohol, now becomes a craving.

I hope I have explained this in a manner best understood by you. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help.

Best wishes.

Brief Answer:
Just need to build a strong will ma'am

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again ma'am.

Unfortunately, the craving to have sugar is just a usually craving. It is nothing pathological that can be treated with medications. The best treatment is to realize you need to limit your sugar intake and build a strong will to take only how much is required for daily sustenance and nothing more. It is like telling yourself that you cannot have a nice juicy steak on a daily basis for all 3 meals and still be healthy.

I am sure you can build a strong will to control this urge, as you have successfully done the same for alcohol.

Wishing you nothing but the best ma'am. Please do not hesitate to write back to me for any further assistance, I am always available to help.

Best wishes.
