Posted on Fri, 11 Mar 2016
Question: I have been having cramping in my low abdomen/pelvic area for the past two days. It has been mostly on my right side but today it is on both sides. It feels like menstrual cramps but I am not on my period, I just had it 2 weeks ago. I also have watery, dark, greenish diarrhea.

Brief Answer:
Infection can be the reason.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Your symptoms indicate some infection of the gastrointestinal tract. Diarrhea is quite characteristic symptom of such infection.
It can appear due to some food poisoning.
Sometimes similar symptoms can appear due to partial bowels obstruction caused by inflammatory bowels disease (Crohns disease). If so, diarrhea can contain blood and mucus.

I suggest you to start with BRAT diet (banana, rice, apple sauce, toast) and probiotic intake. Drink plenty of liquids.
If the symptoms wont go away in a day or two, please consult your doctor and have blood work, urine analysis and abdominal ultrasound done.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
