What Causes Constriction Of The Sac In The Scrotum?

default
Posted on Tue, 23 Aug 2016
Question: experiencing a constriction of scrotal sac. Dr. XXXXXXX [of this site] suggested a hernia check by a surgeon. That has turned out negative. Does anyone have another theory as the surgeon had no suggestions. At times the sac shrinks so much it squeezes the testicles up into the groin, which is very painful. Please help.

Brief Answer:
It could be due to contraction of muscle of scrotum.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Testis are placed in the scrotum for good temperature. During development, testis descends from abdomen into scrotum.
The contraction and relaxation of scrotal sac depends on the climate. During summer, it will be lax and the testis will be hanging.
It is natural that the scrotal sac gets contracted and push the testis up.It is due to Dartos muscle that is present in the scrotal layers.Usually,it is not painful.
If you are feeling pain, then Epididymoorchitis (Inflammation of Testis snd Epididymis)should be excluded. It is done by Ultrasound scrotum.
Please consult your Urologist, get examined clinically and proceed accordingly.
Nothing to worry.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.

It's 95 degrees here, so it is not temperature related. Ultrasound has been done. No relevant info from that. The worst contractions never happen when a Dr. is looking. Any other possibilities?

Brief Answer:
Rare possibility is Testicular torsion.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Another rare possibility is Intermittent Testicular torsion. But,this condition is diagnosed by Colour doppler of scrotum during pain only.Testis gets twisted leading to severe pain and within few minutes, it comes to normal position.
If it is diagnosed, the Testis has to be fixed on both sides.
Hope I answered your query.
Wish you good health.

At it's worst the scrotal sac was fully contracted and the testes were both drawn up into the groin, which was very painful. Intermittent testicular torsion would cause this reaction?
