What Causes Constant Pain On Elbow ?

default
Posted on Mon, 8 Sep 2014
Question: I have had consistent "elbow" pain for months. It isn't actually my elbow, but the area of my elbow in the outer area of the elbow. It is extremely painful to pull anything or reach for anything using my hand. I have taken ibuprofen and it helps some, but not completely at all and it is only temporary. Any ideas?

Brief Answer:
Following treatment helps in 90-95% cases

Detailed Answer:
Hello
It’s good to see you.
I have following suggestion to reduce the pain and to promote healing of tennis elbow, like-
1. Rest and avoid any activity that causes pain to the sore elbow.
2. Apply ice to the affected area along with Pain killer like Ibuprofen and tennis elbow belt also helps.
3. Cortisone medication-It may be used if the pain and swelling does not subside with above treatment. It may be put on topically by you or injected into the sore area by your doctor.
4. To promote healing which begins a couple of weeks after the pain of tennis elbow has been reduced or eliminated. It involves specific physical-therapy exercises to stretch and strengthen muscles and tendons around the injured elbow. Any activity that aggravates the pain must be avoided.

To help lessen the continued stress and abuse on tennis elbow, you should do-
Use of a counter-force brace, an elastic band(tennis elbow belt) that wraps around the forearm just below the injured elbow (tendon) may help to relieve pain in some people. Avoid tight gripping, overuse of the wrist. Pay attention to the movements that cause pain.
Hope this suffices.
Take care
