What Causes Cold Hands?

default
Posted on Tue, 1 Dec 2015
Question: Hi,
If I hold my index finger (palm up) under a cold faucet, my right finger will feel slightly colder water temperature than my left index finger. Hot water seems to register pretty much the same.
Is this normal or does it seem concerning? I have no numbness or any dexterity problems.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
No reason to worry about.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again and thanks for being here at HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Since there are no other neurologic symptoms, besides temperature changes between your fingers, you have nothing to worry about.

This change in sensation could be most likely related to microvascular blood supply of the fingers in regards to their positions.

Don't worry, it doesn't mean anything, medically speaking.

Hope this helps.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care,
