What Causes Cloudy Urine Despite Having Normal Urine And Blood Test Results?

Question: Ive had back issues without answers.
Im without insurance so ive used this site a bunch.
I have had back pain for over 10 years.
Its due to bulges, canal stenosis and arthrosis in multiple discs in thorasic, lumbar and cervical. Its considered moderate.
My pain seemed to change around 2 years ago and seemed to be felt more out near my lower ribs, mainly on right side.
I guess it reduced as i didnt think about it much until i began noticing pain again in the same area.
Ive been checked out quite a bit with most recent urinalysis being yesterday.
I also looked up records of all my scans, labs, etc... To give you guys a better idea of the whole picture.

I had a CT of abdomen, pelvis, kidneys
In mid 2014 , it was normal
At that date all my blood work showed normal everything including liver, pancreas, kidneys, cell counts, metabolic, etc...
Ive had a normal xrays and labs in early 2015 and a normal xray and labs 30 day ago.
Again all showed normal.
The labs are below.
Xray - normal
Bun - 12
Creatine - 1.1
Glucose -101
Urinalysis - negative for protein, sugar, blood, WBC, RBC, bacteria, leuk, epithelial.

So, i keep showing normal but i did have 1 day recently where i urinated once and it was cloudy. I only noticed it that one time and havent seen anything since.
My urinalysis yesterday was again all normal.
When i was insured my doctor explined that the most recent CT wasnt that long ago and it was totally normal showing no damage or masses and with normal labs and no blood or protein in urine my pain was muscular.
So, now im wondering what this could be.
The only thing i can think of is that i drink quite a few colas each day and probably stay a little dehydrated.
Could this irritate the kidneys?
I also take tylenol daily for my back.
I take nexium daily as well.

Brief Answer:
Single isolated cloudy urine with normal urine exam

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I think you seem to be too bothered than you should be about the cloudy urine. That was only once and the subsequent urine exam was normal so there finishes the matter.
You raised a pertinent point though which you were aware of. Colas are extremely dehydrating and can irritate the kidneys. They are harsh on them. Kidneys do not like those drinks.
Cloudy urine can be because of a lot of normal thing like semen, prostatic secretions, early morning urine has a lot of protein.
Please do not worry tylenol and nexium are metabolized by liver. Sometimes keep checking the liver enzymes, its function and urine protein.
So I think you should not be worried about single episode of cloudy urine but should warn on repeated cloudy urine sample. A good idea is to collect the sample and take it to the lab/urgent clinic for gross eye examination the next time.
All the best.

Thank you for responding.
Due to being without insurance im searching online to try and find an answer for my back pain.
I keep running into really terrible stuff and without being able to see a doctor its very stressfull to go through the day and wonder if your backs hurting from some kidney issue.
My disc bulges are C5-6 bulge, T10-11 bulge and stenosis, L4-5 and L5-S1 bulge and stenosis, Arthrosis is also seen in all these areas. All is considered moderate on MRI report.

I think a few things would answer my concerns...
1. Do all these normal kidney function tests rule out things like kidney damage from meds, life, etc...

2. You said you can indeed irritate the kidneys? Does it take a bit to get them back to feeling better? Is irritating them from excessive caffeine or diet fairly common?
3. Do you think as my local doctor did, that this is very likely due to disc issues and muscular pain?

If i just had an idea of what a DR thought was going on and was told what surely wasn't, that would help a lot.
Thank you

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Answer to your questions.
1. Do all these normal kidney function tests rule out things like kidney damage from meds, life, etc...

YES MOST LIKELY. They show up kidney damage due to any cause

2. You said you can indeed irritate the kidneys? Does it take a bit to get them back to feeling better? Is irritating them from excessive caffeine or diet fairly common?

It is reversible in the early stages. CAFFEINE or DIET can irritate.

3. Do you think as my local doctor did, that this is very likely due to disc issues and muscular pain?

YES.
