What Causes Chronic Thigh Pain?

default
Posted on Fri, 23 May 2014
Question: I have chronic pain only on the front of one thigh. no redness, warmth, edema at site. It feels like a severe ,blistering sunburn across the front of my thigh constantly. Several times a day it feels like thousands of hot pokers rapidly going in and out, to the bone. Those episodes are so severe that it doubles me over. This began 4 years ago. At that time however the sensation of hot pokers going to the bone was constant for a month. It all stopped for about one year and progressed from weekly severe episodes to constant pain. I'm feeling desperate. I've had no injuries or illnesses. There is nothing to "show" a doctor and I normally have a pretty high pain tolerance.I am a 58 y/o caucasian female. Can anyone tell me what may causse this?

Brief Answer:
I will advise you to do MRI spine

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have studied your case.
Due to compression of this nerve root there is pain in your thigh.

I will advise you to do MRI spine as nerve compression in spine can lead to pain in and around thigh.
For these symptoms analgesic and neurotropic medication can be started.
Till time you can consult physiotherapist for help.
Physiotherapy like ultrasound and interferential therapy will give quick relief.
I will advise to check your vit B12 and vit D3 level.

These symptoms could be due to vascular occlusion around your hip and thigh.
Colour Doppler may help in diagnosis.

Many of my patients get relief from chronic pain by yoga pranayama and XXXXXXX XXXXXXX so you can also due that.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care.
