Brief Answer:
Diabetes in uncontrolled. May need insulin

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

I have gone through the question and the reports attached. I understand your concerns.

Your mother's blood sugar levels are grossly uncontrolled. She is currently on a good dose of anti diabetic medications.

Please check her kidney functions and HbA1c (3month average blood sugar).

The target blood glucose at this age is fasting less than 130 mg/dl, after food less than 180 mg/dl and HbA1c less than 7%. Your mothers blood sugar levels are well above this. The medicines she is currently on are in good dose. Increasing the number of tablets or adding newer once may not help in very high sugar levels. So it is better to start her on insulin treatment. You can discuss this with your diabetologist.

The tiredness heaviness and burning sensation are results of high sugar levels.

Diet:
3 major meals and 4 snacks. Have low calorie, high fibre diet. Increase vegetables, decrease rice, fatty foods. Most importantly eat at the right time. Frequent small meals always improve diabetic control.

Wishing her good health.

Hope I have answered your questions. If you have any further queries I will be happy to help you.

Hi,
She had sugar levels under control but since last 2 months her sugar levels have gone up .She is also not sure why as she he doing In last 2 months she is feeling more tires and unable to get up early so she is sleeping late in night and getting up late in morning and having less food. She is not sure what she can eat so I need a more detailed diet plan like what all she can have in 3 meals and 4 snacks. What exercise she can do..She complains of stomach pain no matter what she eats, she has more frequent urination.Eye irritation and eyes are red with water flowing. If eats food she feels like vomiting but actually there is no vomit its just that she feels difficulty for food passing through her throat and her neck nerves are paining/straining with neck pain.

She has pain in legs so can do much walking as well.
So please suggest elaborate diet plan and exercise.

Just to add she has thyroid as well

Brief Answer:
See the detailed diet plan and exercise, I have provided...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through your question.

Please have these tests done after consulting your doctor. HbA1c, kidney function tests, urine albumin creatinine ratio, thyroid function test and diabetic retinopathy screening. This will give you a better clue on the symptoms she have. At present the frequency of urination and generalised tiredness are results of high sugars. An HbA1c blood test will guide you in treatment- whether to start insulin immediately or not.

Detailed diet:
Snacks : Wheat bread sandwich or 2 egg white or 3-4 sugar free biscuits or 1 apple or 1 orange or 1/2 banana or 1 cup salads

Breakfast : 2-3 Dosa, idli, chappathi + vegetable curry, or 1 cup cornflakes or 1 cup oats

Lunch : 1/2 cup rice+ salads+ vegetable curry + 1 fish curry or 3 Chappathies + vegetable curry

Dinner : 3 Chappathies + vegetable curry or 1 cup oats or 2 wheat sandwiches

Exercise: 20-30 minutes brisk walkng per day covering 3-4 kilometres.

Please do a thyroid function tests to tell us more about her thyroid problems.

Hope you are now clear with the answers
