What Causes Burning Sensation At The Base Of Shoulder Blades?

default
Posted on Sat, 6 Jun 2015
Question: A while back I experienced a burning pain that began at the base of my shoulder blades and spread up. Of course I ask myself what is happening. I shake it off then it happens again. All is normal before this occurrence. A time after this I acquired a pain that settled in between my shoulder blades and stayed. I have been in the hospital and to several doctors and no one has yet to figure out what is wrong. The pain I experienced in my back comes and goes. When my symptoms escalate it appears. I can't do anything without having shortness of breath. If I am standing up and I try to talk, I have shortness of breath. Sometimes when I start to walk my legs will burn as though i have been running. My heart will begin to race and I have the shortness of breath. And this is during slow steps. inhave had an echocardiogram, and a stress test as well as EKG's and X-rays.

The answer to question one is no. The answer to question two is no. I will photograph the blood test results. As far the the burning pain that was only on the first occurrence. This was the signature onset of what is going on now. Any pain after that was a dull ache that settles in between my shoulder blades that is more pronounced when I am having a bad day.

Brief Answer:
You need to get steroid injection at most tender point

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your reports and I think that most probably you are having inflammation of back and shoulder muscles. It is called Trapezitis.I would suggest you to go ahead with steroid injection in the most tender point. This will give you good pain relief.
I would also recommend you to take a opinion about breathlessness. You have mentioned that you are not having any anxiety, but it is most common cause of breathlessness and as your blood report, ecg and other tests are normal so I would suggest you to rule out anxiety and stress causes as well.
Tablet Pregabalin M should be taken at night time to take care of muscle and nerve related burning pain.
I hope this answer will be useful for you. Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
thanks

I dont have burning pain or anxiety. Any activity such as standing up or talking causes me to have shortness of breath. To go further than that, such as walking, even slowly, makes it worse. I feel resistance in my lungs as though they are not fully expanding to take in air. When that happens it feels like i have a tightness between my back and my chest and pain starts in between my shoulder blades. Thats the stage it is at. Sometimes its much worse and all i can do is lay back in my recliner and do nothing. Everything most is fine as long as i am sitting but as soon as i stand up the trouble starts. I feel extreme fatigue and breathlessness .

Brief Answer:
These symptoms are more because of stress then lung

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Breathlessness that is cause by heart and lung problem become worse when a person laying on bed. This is because diaphragm pushes lungs upward. When such person stands or sits erect then breathing improves.
Your symptoms are not matching with this. So I would recommend you to meet a physcian and get proper evaluation. This will tell is us if this is cause by any disease or stress.
I would recommend you to take a psychiatric opinion as some time neurosis can present with such symptoms.
I hope this answer will be useful for you. Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
thanks
