What Causes Burning Sensation And Itching On The Face After Using Fluorouracil?

default
Posted on Mon, 27 Mar 2017
Question: I have just completed three days ago the two week skin treatment using fluorouracil. As expected I have continued significant burning and itching over my entire face. I am applying cortisone 1% twice daily, but felt I needed to do more to reduce the dryness and burning. I have started to use Vitamin E in addition to the cortisone cream. These do provide temporary relief but the significant burning and itching returns after a few hours. Is the Vitamin E oil a good supplement? Is there more I could do?

Brief Answer:
Vitamin E is a good supplement!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Vitamin E is a good supplement for the skin. In fact, it is added to body lotion for improved skin care. Feel free using it and more sore because it offers relief. There is no toxicity associated with this lotion and as such feel free to add it on when the effect expires after a few hours. Keep the dosage and frequency of cortisone cream same. In addition to thee measures, drink much water, keep this area covered and prevent exposure that can lead to excessive desiccation and increased burning. You must realize the sun isn’t a friend in these moments.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to follow up with me and ask for more information and clarifications iff need be.
