Brief Answer:
Furuncle with surrounding edema.

Detailed Answer:
HI.
Thanks for a good photograph.

This is a classical furuncle with inflammation which has spread to the surrounding tissues. This is a common feature seen particularly in the thighs and legs.

Get a small course of an antibiotic and anti-inflammatory medicines.
Please also get your blood sugar checked .
Apply liquid povidone iodine on this and the area surrounding it to make it sterile to avoid secondary infection.

This would settle soon if you take proper medicines as advised.
Do not fiddle with it or try to pop, it may spread fast.

Brief Answer:
No swimming please .

Detailed Answer:
Oh, so sorry about it. Your pharmacy would not allow this, nor our service provider.

Better not to swim till this is cured.

Is that because its contagious? Or because the infection will spread firther

Brief Answer:
Spread / delayed healing

Detailed Answer:
You are absolutely right , the infection may spread further. At least it will be responsible for delayed healing.
Once this is healed you will have all the time in the world to swim.
