What Causes Bubble Feeling In Lower Left Abdomen?
Question: Hi. For the past 2 weeks ive been having this discomfort in my LEFT upper abdomen. Its not pain or anything, it just feels like theres a mass or large bubble in my abdomen. Its freaking me out, and it feels like something could burst. Again, no pain, just uncomfortable. My bowels are fine and ive been eating regularly. Help?

1. There are some clinical possibilities at your age which might require investigation in case of a left upper abdomen discomfort.
(i) There is the lung base on the left side which is separated from the abdomen by the diaphragm. Any condition like infection of the lungs or a minimal fluid collection might give rise to discomfort in the region.
(ii) At times the diaphragm might get thinned out due to the presence of diaphragmatic eventration or a small diaphramatic hernia. These are benign conditions and might cause slight discomfort in left upper abdomen.
(iii) There can be acid reflux in stomach or a hiatus hernia due to which there might be a sense of discomfort which is more on bending forwards and when fasting.
(iv) The spleen is an organ in the left upper abdomen which might get enlarged and appear as a mass like feeling.
(v) There are also conditions involving the left kidney, tail of pancreas and weakness in abdominal wall, which might appear as a mass like large bubble in the abdomen.
(vi) The large bowel also courses along the left upper abdomen but since you have no bowel complaints therefore this appears less likely.
