Brief Answer:
more investigation is required

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I've checked your report and there are things to consider investigating further on.

First of all the platelets count is normal but this is a quantitative result. It doesn't tell us anything about the functionality of the platelets. There are special tests to check the functionality. A hematologist should order them. I would have also ordered "bleeding time" test, which assesses the platelets' ability to create a clot.

The RDW-CV is nothing to worry about. Since the rest of the blood count is normal, you can ignore it completely.
Total protein and globulins are high. The total proteins is the sum of albumin and globulins. Since the globulins are high, the total proteins are high too. The globulins may be higher than normal after serious infections (and usually prolonged ones), various autoimmune and hematologic disorders. A protein electrophoresis and immunoglobulin measurement is the right next step to check for abnormal globulins. More investigation will probably be required after the electrophoresis but this is the next step.

Finally alkaline phosphatase is an enzyme which may be elevated in liver and bone disorders. The liver should be first checked with an ultrasound scan. If you have bone pain then investigation with radiological tests would be required for that too.

Since you're having bruises, a hematologic disorder is suspected so you'd better continue the investigation with a hematologist. The differential diagnosis is broad at this point, perhaps too broad to mention here. I can tell you that some malignant disorders are possible, so you'd better continue the investigation until they're excluded. In patients like you, I usually fill some gaps with more tests (like the electrophoresis, etc that I've mentioned earlier) and then refer the patient to a hematologist.

I hope I've helped a bit!
Please contact me again, if you'd like any clarification or further information.

Kind Regards!

Brief Answer:
8 is marginally normal

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

thanks for the additional info. The bleeding time is marginally normal. I agree with the proposed tests. Since a hematologist is leading the investigation, I believe you'll come to a conclusion soon.

Kind Regards!
