What Causes Breathing Difficulty And Cough?

default
Posted on Fri, 21 Aug 2015
Question: I went to the ER in May after having gallbladder surgery in April. I coughed so much in recovery. I am a non smoker and not around 2nd hand smoke. I had to go to the ER cause I was having trouble breathing, shortness if breathe, coughing, whike I was eating or drinking (non alcohol) I would cough alot. I am still having these symptoms. They are somewhat better but the heat makes it hard for me ti breathe. I am 57 but in good health and not overweight. They did a CT scab and this is what the impression read.
1. No evidence of pulmonary embolis or other acute process is seen within the chest.
2. Evidence of prior granulomatous exposure
3. Cholecystectomy and small hepatic cysts
4. There us a mild delendent change within the posterior aspect of the lungs. Several small calcified granules are seen within the lungs.
5. There are calcufied right hilar lymph nodes. No areas of airspace consolodation. no pneumothorax or pleural fluid collection.
6. Demostrates cholecystemocy.......small cysts wirhin liver.. (Know that is fine) no acute abnormality is identified.
My questions I guess are the granulomatius exposure and I am breathing better but it is like I am breathing threw cottin balls and something is irritated and this all happened after my surgery. The ER doctor sd he thinks I
May have aspirated in the gases. I need to know do I need to go to a pulminary doc?

Brief Answer:
Visit a pulmonologist if there is active complaint

Detailed Answer:
Hello

My name is Dr Muhammad Ali Rauf & i will look into your problem.

I have gone through your query and would try to help you in the best possible way. As there is active complaint regarding chest so i would suggest you to once get an opinion from a "Consultant Pulmonoloigst". He will examine you and the CT report. There is a possibility that your symptoms are due to allergic reaction in response to pollens. Meanwhile take Syp. Diphenhydramine + Dextromethorphan thrice a day for cough.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!
