Brief Answer:
Boil over back: Various suggestions and guidance.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome and thanks for posting your query to the forum.

I can understand your concern for the boil over the base of spine. After analyzing your query I can make out that the boil has now bursted. In your kind of condition I give following suggestions for better relief and earliest healing:

- Clean the area with an diluted antiseptic lotion. Do not apply the lotion directly as can cause irritation. Dilute the antiseptic lotion with four times the amount water.

- Do not try to pinch or pop the area or unnecessarily touch the area as can cause further aggravation.

- Keep your self away from hot and humid climate.

- Take two times bath.

- Wear cotton clothes and cotton undergarments to be changed two times a day. Do not wear any synthetic or tight garments.

- Do not sit continuously for long hours.

- In your kind of condition I suggest my patients to apply an antibiotic cream such as mupirocin or fucidin over the affected area.

- An anti-inflammatory tablet such as paracetamol or Ibuprofen or diclofenac can be taken to reduce the inflammation as well as pain over the affected area.

In case if you feel that there is more discharge of pus or if pain increases then a course of antibiotic could be taken from a family physician.
