Brief Answer:
Investigations amd clinical evaluation.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Read and understood your history and concerns.
Noted that you have deep chronic cough, rattling left side, more so on lying down, is infrequent and somewhat subsides on deep breathing.

My thoughts:
There looks to be affection of the lung on left side.
This can be diagnosed by:
X-ray of the chest in PA and left lateral views.
Tests of blood and urine.
Tests of the phlegm if productive cough.
Clinical evaluation and examination by a Doctor, preferably by Pulmonologist.
Contrast enhanced CT scan of chest would further give a confirmed diagnosis and a plan of further management.

A confirmed diagnosis gives better chances of proper and curative treatment.
I hope this answer helps you, please feel free to ask for further relevant query if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
