What Causes Blurred Vision While On Prednisone?

default
Posted on Mon, 28 Nov 2016
Question: I have typed the question perhaps 5 times this morning and it gets lost...
I'll try again?
I have been taking Prednisone for Polymyalgia. I stopped one month ago and the Polymyalgia has not returned. I had a blood test to check it out.
I had double vision and blurriness this week. My eyes are perfect. I just had them checked by my eye doctor.
I am scheduled for a MRI this week to check out the double vision.
Why are my thighs and area behind my knees (above and below them) so sore. They feel weak and it is hard to get out of bed and sit in a chair. I have canceled my tennis for this week.

Brief Answer:
Polymyalgia Rheumatica

Good evening

Well, with the complaints you are having I feel you may need some treatment continuation for PMR....

Even thought ESR, CRP can be normal with treatment but at times, there may be some activity going on at lower level...

1. For soreness of the thighs, it may be due to stiffness returning from the PMR. There can be some inflammation going on causing them to be sore. And they are causing the difficulty... To confirm it, we can get an Ultrasound done for the hips..That will give us a clear picture where the problem is coming from

2 As for the double vision and blurriness, MRI can get it clear to see if any nerve is infected or not. I was only worried about the artery in the eye, which can get involved with PMR.

I believe get an Ultrasound for the hips as well and we may consider re starting steroids if any finding comes positive.

I hope the information was useful
