What Causes Blurred Vision Following Injury By Elbow To The Eye?

Posted on Sat, 25 Apr 2015
Question: My daughter, age 7, got elbowed in the eye last week. The school nurse put an ice pack on it. Now she is saying her eye is blurry. She cannot read flash cards that are more than 6-8 inches away from her face. Should I take her to the ER? Her pediatrician? Getting scared.

Brief Answer:
You need to consult your eye doctor.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care magic

I am Dr Dadapeer k an ophthalmologist and I answer health problems related to eye.
I reviewed your history.
It seems from the history that your 7 year old daughter is having blurred vision following injury by elbow to the eye.

This can be because of inflammation of the eye caused by injury in the from of iritis, or can be because of dilatation of the pupil caused by injury.
These conditions can be treated and will not lead to permanent disability. These conditions can be confirmed by eye examination under a slit lamp and by ophthalmoscopy which will be done by ophthalmologist/ eye doctor.
Hence I advice you to consult your eye doctor for examination and treatment accordingly.

Hope this information is helpful to you.
DO write back to me for further questions.

Thank you
