Brief Answer:
infection is the most common cause

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Blood in the urine (hematuria) can be due to different possible causes such as: (1) infection- this is one of the most common causes of hematuria. There are normally additional symptoms such as frequency of urination, pain on urination. Fever, abdominal pain may also occur

(2)stone - this can occur in any part of the renal system- bladder, ureter, kidneys, urethra. Normally associated with pain

(3)side effect of medication eg blood thinners

(4)bleeding disorder

(5)mass in the urinary tract, may be benign or cancerous

(6)trauma

These are some of the causes.

It would be best to see your doctor for assessment which would include a physical examination and in office testing of the urine. This would give an idea if the blood is related to an infection or another cause.
If it is an infection, antibiotics would be all that it is needed.

If a stone or mass is suspected, you may need an ultrasound.

Treatment depends on the cause found

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
