Brief Answer:
different possible causes

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Blood in the urine is called hematuria.

It can be due to different causes, the most common ones are:
(1)infection- this would also cause discomfort on urination, passing urine frequently, change in the color or odor of urine, urgency to urinate

some or all of these may occur. Some of these symptoms may also occur if the prostate is enlarged

(2)stone - a stone in the bladder or some part of the urinary system can cause blood but normally with pain

(3)enlargement of the prostate- BPH (this is benign/not cancer enlargement of the prostate)

(4)cancer of the prostate

(5)side effect of medications- medications such as aspirin or blood thinners can cause bleeding

(6)trauma

(7)bleeding disorders

(8)idiopathic- in some persons ,no cause is found

If it continues then you would need to consider seeing your doctor for an assessment.

This would involve physical examination, urine testing at the office and possibly a sample to the lab

In some cases, the cause is clear and treatment can be started immediately eg history, examination and urine tests point to infection

If the cause is not clear, an ultrasound may be needed to take a look at the urinary tract

Treatment depends on the cause found.

In the majority, it is not a life threatening cause

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
